So I bought a '95 F450 Power stroke. 248K miles. 8 inch tall frame rails and 10 lug wheels make this a bit larger toy.Especially with a tilt flat bad that will get the sides replaced on. The ICP sensor was bad and while replacing that I also replaced he pigtail connector to it.
Steering box is worn out, shocks are dead, wheel bearings sorely need attention.
Overdrive (E4OD) kicks in and out excessively and currently the toy is at the trans shop.
I have enough to do without adding a trans rebuild to my misery.
** Injectors** This toy has a bit of an excessive oil consumption and one of the injectors cuts out when the truck warms up slightly. RiffRaff(?) diesel also sells steel injector cups versus brass. They even rent a tool to facilitate easier cup installation on an engine in the truck. Unless you have $400 to buy the two tools.
I believe I am going to replace all the injectors because I do not desire to open that can of worms again soon. Motorcraft glow plugs going in and that leaves injectors to replace.
With one of them dropping out when warm, I tend to consider them all to be soon at the same point of failure and don't desire to open this can again soon.
Injectors and cups is a new one on me. The other slight oddity is that occasionally the engine misfires cold and then runs better after a few seconds, then once the injectors gets up to temp, one of them drops out again. Possible oil leaking past injector seals/injector cup or other when cold?
Another week or so and this toy should be home again.
Any recommendations for injectors or other?
Thanks in advance.
The '94 CC Dually idi with the Eatons and Allison is going to get a flat bed installed.
I also have an '89 CC Dually that will retain the 8' box.
