6.9 idi hard to start when cold

1987 6.9 idi if it sits over night and gets cold it will only start if plugged in or if it clicks a couple times but if it does not click it will just turn over and not start but if I turn the key on and off it will eventually click and start right up and it only clicks twice that it and the wts light is normal if it clicks or not anyone else had this problem?

Sounds like glow plug relay or just as plugs in general. Obviously when it clicks that means some are getting hot and that's why it fires right up. When it doesn't click you have cold cylinders and no help trying to ignite the fuel
