That fuel screw is one of those things that's pretty tough to do right the first time at it. Much easier after that, but it makes a mess every time. Gotta keep that gasket/triangle bit super clean too so you don't get dirt into the IP.

Also, changing the fuel screw WILL affect the timing. I can't remember which way it goes. Though I don't remember if one flat will affect it much. I doubt it.
Spent next couple hours d i c k i n around getting the Fuel line Clamps secured,
whada P I T A gettin them on, need a 5 yr old with little hands.
Hey, I can do the fuel line clamps, what are you trying to say!? :rotflmao
For the record, I do hate them. But not enough to leave them off again, learned that lesson the hard way!

I did notice one poster sells a set made in Italy, but for $120.
Are they really? or Chicom made one`s, and boxed up in Italy?
I would guess the latter, but I certainly don't know for sure. Ask the seller?

I bought longer 7/16" Bolts, and was able to shove them up from underneith
to get the Nut on.
I have adjusted the little hex screw 3 times now. Still high idle, and when
accelerating will smoke, say I down shift to 3rd, go around corner and pick up
speed. I just feather the peddle, but flooring it just smokes. Go easy on the
peddle, still accelerates the same, same amount of air, and less fuel.

I have been going to check the timing all week, always something taking up time.
Today heading up to Reno for "Hot August Night`s" car show. Good 60 mile run up
there.
So tomorrow no matter what, checking the timing. Monday very early, heading out
to Portland, Or., a good 600 mile or so trip. Was getting 19 - 20 mpg with old Pump/Injectors, and summer fuel, don`t know whare Iam at now.

Swapping out the parts is no big deal, simple stuff, they just don`t want to cooperate.

Wow that's amazing mileage! You're doing something right.
If you're down 3 flats and still pouring smoke BUT the engine runs good and smooth and strong, I agree with you that you probably got a turbo pump. Maybe an RD90?

With winter Fuel, 16 - maybe 18.
I filled up couple days ago, & with new IP/Injectors, Leaking fuel, getting
it dialed in, came up with 18.58. Have T-19 and 3:55, so that helps.
Also running the stock 235/85/16 tires.

Now if I hook up the Car Trailer, all bets are off. Really drags it down.
22ft, flat deck, 10K lb GVW. It weighs 2700 lbs.

One thing I noticed today. I usually start in 1st, go to 3rd and 4th.
On a down grade, start in 2nd, maybe to 3rd, but may skip and go to 4th.
Up hill, hit all 4 gears.
Now this depends on loaded etc...

So today go from 1st to 3rd, she dogged down before picking it up. May
have cut the fuel back too much. Will check the timing before adjusting it.

You could be right, I got a Turbo pump. Got it before he was doing pumps
in house like he does today. (5 yrs ago) Asked for a NA Pump at the time.
Not going to blame any one etc.... is what it is, will work around it.
Truck does sound way different, kind of like a power Stroke...LOL.

Something really odd inside the pumps calibration must be off.

In a fwiw way
My i.p. has 60k factory miles on it.
Get 9mpg no matter what.

Russ Said it's toast.

Last night I finally got around to checking the timing,
RPM`s were 769 - 775 bouncing around.
Set timing light to 10 deg at 2K RPM`s.
Lines were not lined up at TDC when light flashed.
Advanced timing Light, and shows 13deg.

So adjusting the little screw behind the Triangle Plate,
must throw it off one deg for ea flat I guess.

After Church I`ll tear into it and reset the Timing.
So I need to retard it a bit.
That`s easy just remember the Driver is retarded.

Hooked up the timing gear, loosened the pump, it moved a bit
from the pressure of the lines. Tightened the pump and cranked
her up. It was sitting right on 10 deg. dang, forgot the RPM`s.

Took her for a run, and seems to running good with a slight amount
of smoke and good acceleration.

Leaving in the morning for Portland, Or., try to get out of here around 4am.
Get through Reno before the idiots mess things up.
They had some bad fires couple weeks back the way we are going, should
be good by now, will check. From Susanville on it 2 lane roads.
From Eugene to Portland is another 100 miles.
