I forgot about this until just now when I saw it sitting by the TV. But if you buy stuff from the place that I got my seals, I guess they'll send you a little China toy truck. I guess that makes $20 worth of O rings worth $300......at least I feel better. Here's a picture of my $280 toy truck hauling KITT in super pursuit mode.

Just read your whole thread. There's no words to describe my jealousy. I've been looking for an affordable IDI tow truck. I have a car trailer and a dolly but once the trailer is behind a crew cab long bed, I can only tow cars that are in a giant space

Love watching this project

Im always open for an offer. Even though the wheel lift is back together, I gotta get a starter and then I can fire it up and get it back going. It'll be a week or so.

Well here it is. I'm going to discribe my fuel set up and as time and life progresses I'll share more, if y'all have any comments or questions bring em on. So back in March I got this thing, '87, 6.9, ZF5, 4:10(supposed to be, it was really cruising different than my dually on the test run) and it's got a Century 502 tow body with a wheel lift.
I've gone over the whole fueling system, except the IP. The tanks have been cleaned out, created new lines in the tank (see thread "my answer to shower heads") and I redid the lines from the tanks to the engine, which is what I am going to break down on this post.

The left tank is for "clean diesel" the right tank is plastic and for WMO. Return lines go to the WMO tank so I can have clean diesel on demand. The diesel tank is plumbed into the cab(yep, into the cab) with 5/16 line, the WMO is plumbed into the right tool box with 3/8 line to a fuel filter and then into the cab(sure nuff, the cab) the two lines meet at a manual 3way valve mounted to the front of my homemade center console from which they unite and travel in 3/8 line next to my shifter through a glass fuel filter that works as a sight glass and then on through the firewall to where the water separator used to be.

The theory is that, during the winter specifically, that before I shut it off I can switch to diesel for a moment and back to oil before I completely turn it off, so there's a little more diesel than oil in the IP and fuel filter for a easy start on less than 45F days. It probably sounds complex to the uninitiated but it really isn't.

I haven't smoked cigarettes or pot since I met Jesus about 17yrs ago.

And really it would have to be a cigarette loaded with dinamite to ignite diesel fuel, much less the oil I run.

Just in case a lawyer is reading this: DO NOT USE DINAMITE NEAR DIESEL FUEL OR JESUS FREAK'S USED OIL COLLECTION. Serious injury or death may occur.

Always remember what Smokey the Diesel says, "only you can prevent yourself from blowing up by mishandling dinamite..."

True, but if you're like Dead Pool, you still won't die.

Hey! What's happening? I had to share this, because it's interesting (kinda), and it's tow truck stuff that isn't air intrusion.

Since I've had this truck it's really been lacking one thing other than power and speed, tow mirrors. I thought I had some mirrors one time when a certain unnamed member that we'll refer to as hacked--, no that's too obvious, we better say --89 for discretion was parting out a dump truck he had and I messaged him about the tow mirrors on it but it never came to fruition, but then the person that got the truck from him that we might call c-----man88 never got back with me about said mirrors either, but it's okay it worked out well........no hard feelings.......unless they need a part I just happen to have that would make their trucks safer! I'm kidding @hacked89 and @chillman88 , this really did work out well.

So the other day I got wind of a bullnose bronco that might be legit for some handy extra parts, but when I went and looked at it it was just junk. Absolutely nothing of value, but there was a 80s F700 cab there that had something that I had been looking for!
Long story short, I offered to buy the doors with the mirrors attached because the doors were off and sitting rusting on the ground. I thought that would be helpful hauling off the junk, giving him money, and I get the mirrors. Right? Well he had the idea that the doors were worth $100 a piece totally stripped, that's fine, then what are the mirrors worth detached from the doors?.....$30 for the set! Sweet. I'm almost ashamed of myself, but he really wanted to keep the rusty dented doors that are "really valuable".

So I don't have F150 mirrors anymore......I've got F700 mirrors on the tow truck and I can actually see around the stacks finally. The passenger side glass is broken, but I can get new glass. These frames are crazy big. I had to drill holes above the window to attach it, I got pictures of the special studs that hold it on up there. And I obviously kept all the rusty acorn nuts so as to not detract from the patina.

Those mirrors aren’t very easy to find, sweet that you got a set. I might know where to find a set, I too like big mirrors (former Dodge guy)

You shouldn't be. He set the prices.
Hard to find? I don't know. I picked up a pair last May. They did cost a little bit more than the doors you wanted to buy. The plus side is that they came with a few more attached parts. Naturally, I had already bought a pair of West Coast mirrors for my crew cab, so I now have an extra pair whichever way I decide to go. The funny part was that I kept wondering why all of the oncoming traffic kept moving clear over to that far side of their lane until I finally decided that they must have seen the mirrors sticking out and thought that something was falling off and was ready to get them.

Almost ashamed, but not quite. They might be out your way, but I just don't see them out here. I guess they're called "west coast mirrors" and I'm on the wrong side of the Mississippi.

Dude, this is a dramatized version of an event that actually happened to a real person. It was adapted to this format for screen purposes and slightly modified so as to get a PG rating, if all the facts were told, you'd have to show ID to read that posting.
