Hola
I’m in the beginnings of installing a banks sidewinder in my 91 f350 7.3l idi 4x4 xlt lariat
While removing the CDR I noticed a half inch threaded plug behind it in the valley. It appears to have a hole in it.
Is this normal? What is it for? Should so replace it with a new plug without a hole in it?!

Welcome to the forums!

That threaded plug needs to stay in there. It holds down the valley pan, and the hole in the middle is a drain for anything that ends up on top of the valley pan.

As long as you are working in there, make sure the drain
hole is not plugged up.
Usually a top of C R A P get`s in under the Intake manifold,
and not a lot of Water/Fuel drain through there.

Use an Air Hose and blow out the debris, and maybe a
garden hose to flush out the drain plug.
You will need a stiff wire to stick in the hose to clean it out.
To remove the plug, use a 3/8" extension.

Just make sure the CDR Hose is in good condition. If not
water etc... drains into the engine valley area where the
Hyd Lifters and Push Rods live, and then down into the oil
pan.

If you replace the CDR Hose, be sure to clean the area
around it.

Yead I read that, but by the time I got to the last Post
I forgot he was installing a Turbo.

Still should wash out the VP area and make sure the drain
is open. Wet stuff laying in the VP will eventually cause
some bad rust.
Mine was that way when I had the top of the engine opened
up a couple weeks back. Pan had some bad rust, scrubbed,
wire wheeled it, and threw on some POR to get more life out
of it.

Thanx all. Really looking forward to this turbo-I have some inclines that scare the hell out of you, like looking at the face of a huge wave!
