How much worse is the turning radius on a crew cab as opposed to a SuperCab? My truck, SuperCab with 9ft flatbed, is just as long as a crew cab and I'm wondering how much difference there actually is in the turning radius. Mine sucks plenty and I'm sure a crew cab is a bit worse with 168" wheelbase vs 155" wheelbase but just curious.

Lol. What Is turning radius?

If I dont hit my cul de sac just right to turn around, it becomes a 3 point turn around.
Ive also driven a 1992 ext cab long bed, and standard cab long bed on the same road. Night and day difference with all of them.

My Dad's 05 f450 actually turns tighter than mine. Coil spring + wide dually wheels = very tight turning circle. I'm choked about that, but not much else I can do about it.

While I don't have much to add, I'll say the biggest difference would be if you have a D50 under the front end vs a D60 vs 2WD. I've heard the D60 turns much better than the D50, looks like you've done the conversion to your F250 already. And my Dad's 2WD Dually OBS Extended cab long bed Powerstroke could turn absolute circles around mine. The difference was insane.

But all things being equal other than wheelbase, I don't think 13" in that dimension will make much of a difference. I found a post on FTE that showed 20" wheelbase difference made only a 3" turning circle radius increase.

Yes, TTB didn’t turn as sharp as the Dana 60 in my 86 now. But really, my F-Super Duty probably turns even tighter. Although it’s just 2WD, no surprise there I guess.

The 1990 F350 2WD I had was shorter, and probably turned even sharper than my 91 F-Super Duty. Least it seemed like it did.

I have a Dana 60 from a 1995 donor (leave spring, balljoint)

From what I understand, it's the wider wheelbase on the F450 and F550 platforms that allow the tighter turning circle.

Thanks for the replies. I've been looking for another truck that won't be my daily work rig and a lot of what I find for sale is crew cabs. If I was shorter or just had stubby legs I'd go regular cab but I need something with legroom for taking some road trips. I just feel a bit ridiculous driving a 4 door longbed with only 1 person and a dog in it. But whatever.

As someone who solos a crew cab long bed a lot, you won't look ridiculous
Besides, who cares how you look to other people? Why should their terrible opinions affect you? If they want to buy you something to drive, fine. Bend to their opinions, Since it's your money and your truck, forget (intentional use of the wrong "F" word here) them! :moon:

obs dana 60 axles turn tighter than a obs dana 50 axle, but you wont get the full turning capabilities unless you also swap in a f350 pitman arm from a obs

The Newer 05+ axles turn sharper than previous axles, and the 11, or 13 axles turn sharper than 05.
I have a super cab, and wow a dana 60 with the corresponding pitman arm is incredible! I can make turns other super cabs will do a 3pt turn on. When backing a trailer, I can actually turn tighter than the trailer, It makes backing up way better.

I installed the longer pitman arm with the donor truck when I converted to 4wd. Although, it looks like stock tires do allow for a tad more swing before hitting the leaf spring, if I can get a slightly longer one from a superduty (requires mod to fit the OBS era balljoint taper stud). Is it worth it? probably not.

What is the difference between the two pitman arms? When I did my swap the original D50 pitman seemed like a perfect fit.
