Took 2 observation hives to a festival and they rode in style haha. Has been a rather dark 10 days with family drama, so I was only too glad to escape, even if it meant handling super cranky bees. Once they are inside the observation hives, you can't tell their mood much anyway haha

Oh yeah, I upped the dorkiness factor on the truck by adding a cargo rack. This truck has to haul all the kids, the bikes, and my impossible-to-pack-light luggage this summer.

We have also been trying to get out to off road trails more and these mirrors help so much while towing trailers. NJ and PA drivers take it as a personal goal to try to die or murder slow ass trucks (like myself) towing trailers in the right lane

Still haven't replaced the rear bumper either. I will add a license plate light and maybe some center brake lights along the bottom of tailgate. But I mostly have a trailer when using this truck and so far no one has stopped me for lack of bumper. Even when my license plate was painters taped in the back window haha

Sounds like those drivers aren't just native to NJ or PA, we have a plenty of those fine drivers here on the west coast too!

Haha that's bonkers. Apparently the crew's wages and time were less that the fuel saved?! Or a sole proprietor with nothing else on the schedule...
He'd probably have saved close to the same fuel and gotten there 2x faster at 1200 rpm without risk of damaging the engine via cylinder wash down. I'm sure the engine's volumetric efficiency is actually better at 1200 than 600rpm. Then again, the resistance/friction of the water would go up too, though I can't say by how much or how fast each RPM makes the boat go. Gah, I've stumbled upon another mental wormhole!
It is bonkers, the crew is lucky to be alive they arrived with 50 gal of fuel. Kept about 2k gal in external bladders. Apparently the Mann engineers gave the green light and the owner is happy.. agree there could've been a more efficient rpm but no idea on things. The Cap'n is from WA/OR and has a poor reputation haha, there is a lengthy thread on sail anarchy if you'd really like to dive into the rabbit hole

Don't you just love honeybees? I miss the honey, but I really miss getting stung. Honeybee stings are really therapudic.

On a different note, dropped my truck off after lunch today to have the AC fixed, and they got it done, went and picked it up this evening. It was kind of a pricey deal, but now I have nice cold air conditioning. That’ll be nice this summer…

I changed out the heater core and put two valves in place so that I could shut off the coolant to the core when it's summer, like @BlindAmbition suggested. The existing core was a spectra brand, same model number as I put in. It looked in decent shape so I'll keep it for a spare, just in case.

Well day 3 of getting spare parts out of the bed, to get the compost off the foor of the bed that turned up from sitting. I was running gravel through the bed, to brake up the asphalt/tar that came with the truck. This stuff had to be scraped off and moving all the weight out, was too much for my leg to keep getting subject to.

I was in luck, in that there was a mexican in my presences and was told by the translator that he clean the hole floor with a tooth brush for $20. Well that solve the issue of the bed being a tinder box, so let me push on to get the gen set up and going.

Well found more things needed and more things to fight with like this broken bolt for the brushes. They need pulled when this unit sits and were they ride needs filed before there operational, to keep from burning out the regulator.
