I agree. It'll spin fast, LOUD (ear plugs recommended/safety glasses) But it will also ensure you don't have too much ATF in the cylinders before the first fire up.

And knee pads, and possibly a football helmet that was in the freezer for keeping your brains cool...... you don't want hot brains when you're working on an idi.

That sounds an awful lot like "you can't" to me.

Well update time, not only have I given her hell with the kids, but we also had our 4th kid at the beginning of the month. So it’s been a little bit crazy around here.
I pulled the starter and all of the belts. Filled her with deep creep, atf, and acetone and threw a 25 inch breaker bar on the crankshaft bolt giving her everything I had. No luck. I’m concerned I may be stretching the bolt so we’re giving up on spinning it for now until we pull the heads off at this point. I would have already done so and probably picked the engine, but the garage is a mess, so that side project needs to be complete first. Then I need to get my hands on an engine stand that can take the weight after that.
I have found a couple working engines we may throw in temporarily but that is in limbo for now. I want to see the condition of this one first after I crack it open.

I think you made the right choice to stop trying to turn the engine by the balancer bolt. Keep us updated.
