I'm no expert, but from everything I've seen on here, there is no difference between the 7.3 and 6.9 heads from a performance standpoint. Only that they have different size head bolt holes.

I have no idea why or how you'd run 2 injection pumps, but I think lack of fuel is not the reason you can't make easy big HP with an IDI.

As far as a trans goes, a t-18 offers lower first gear but no synchro in first/reverse. The t-19 has the synchro, but not the deep gear. I would pick the trans based on overall gearing of the truck and what will work for your type of wheeling.

the 2.5 tons i have aren't rockwells like most , mine are the gm/eatons reverse rotation 2.5 tons . they got 6.17 gear in them and my ags are only 48's so i should have decent low end , i think the t19 will be ok. the 205 t case only has a 1.96 low which kinda sucks but it did fine when the truck was a gasser on tons w/4.10s and 46 inch ags , but i could always get a 3:1 kit for it.

thirding the 435 argument, D.D. a 6.9/435 combo.

I think you will be fine. I would contemplate a used 1345. Similar out puts to what you have, lighter and 2.7~ low range. Would say 1356, but... then you are doing driveline work, as that has a slip yoke for a rear shaft.

i would keep the 435 in there with the diesel but i already have my whole frame boxed and have the divorced 205 and pto already in the frame from when it was a gasser. the 435 is a 4wd trans and it used to have a 208 on linked to the divorced 205 for gear reduction but it rarely needed it . thats why im using the t19 because its a 2wd trans and my 205 is already mounted in the frame so all id have to do is build a driveshaft for it . and my 205 has been swapped to 1410 yokes.

Is this between the 18 and 19 or with the 435? The 435 is the lowest 1st gear of any tranny. Its like 6 sumthin:1. But no sync in 1 or R. And if you can handle the L O N G shifts between gears, it is okay. I am going to build a short shifter for mine one of these days.

The T19 has a 6.32:1 first. My friend had a 70s dodge and I think his NP435 was 7:1, some are 6.8:1 I think.

435 will bolt up to the bell housing. I have proof in the garage.

i have proof in my truck. i love the low first gear in it. i have a wide ratio. bolted to the 1356(without slip shaft output) and the 3.55 gears i have, it does good. i am swaping to 4.10 gears just to help on the road.

crawl ratio in my truck with the 3.55 gears and the 40's is 60 to 1. with the 4.10 gears i will be around 72 to 1.
