Hey guys, I installed a new cam gear on the original cam. I also installed a new Melling oil pump. The timing gear kit also crank shaft gear that I did Not install. My thoughts on that were to see if there was too much gear lash, not enough or just right. Well I am getting no end play at all on the cam and I haven't checked the lash yet but there doesn't seem to be any without getting the indicator on it. I pressed the gear on. I thought I had the collar supported well but maybe I pressed the end lobe on to the cam end inadvertently. Any ideas?

Next time hit it with a hammer first. That way you can knock the plug out of the back of the engine and that should give you more play. . .
Right after you pull the engine to reinstall that plug.

There is nothing at the back of the cam, the rear cover/rear main seal is not installed yet and I have the engine out and on a stand.
