So I bought a 88 7.3idi and it’s a lariat so it has all the electric gizmos and stuff but I have come to the peculiar conclusion after fixing a bunch of beyond f$$$ wiring from the last owners kids messing with it door locks power to the glow plugs starter ac and about everything on the truck I have got everything back to 80% of were it should be I couldn’t get the wipers to work to save my life until I accidentally bumped the starter it’s a button on the floor while trying to get them to engage now there is nothing remotely connecting the two but after that they would not shut off no I thought switch was bad at first but they can go to every mode interval high low but the do not engage the pump however they will not turn off even after I disconnect the switch I have took the entire dash apart before hand wiring everything up and cleaning it up and there is nothing going to that motor expect that switch so for now I disconnected the switch to stop it I believe the input must be shot and it thinks it’s still get push inputs constantly so if anyone has any insight it will be appreciated I’m buying the switch anyway also I tried recreating the starter and bump to turn them on the first time to see if they would turn off it did not work so wish me luck

I can't tell you how to fix this but I will tell you you're not alone with wiring nightmares caused by previous owners. To this day i'm still trying to unscrew up and decipher what the previous crackheads were thinking/doing to my truck. Good luck to you sir. I'm sure some others with way more knowledge than me will give some input.

Fwiw I took 2 grocerie bags full of redundant trailer harnesses and such outta my 87.
I forget if the 88 has the intermittent wipers on the column stalk or not...
If yes CAREFULLY take it apart and clean and lube it. Lots of springs and stuff to lose in there.

I would guess the park switch in the wiper motor is not making good contact. The contacts loose tension. Probably can pull the electrical cover off the motor, clean the old grease up, bend contact arms, lube and make it work again.

That is a run-on sentence if ever I saw one; where were you when they were teaching punctuation ?

I have read through this three times; and, as best I can gather, the washer pump is what is sticking and staying On, Right ?

The best I can say, is that "luck" has been wished to you.

My 86 bronco was/is a mess of scab wiring. BUT I have a "parts bronco" with a good harness I'm going to swap out one day.

Let me guess; You are running the wiper motor with no wiper blades on it? If so, there is not enough drag on the motor to stop it in the park position. When you turn the knob to stop, there is still power to the motor from another wire, and this other wire powers the motor to the "park" position. There is a switch inside the motor that someone else mentioned that determines the park position. But with no drag on the motor, it will lose power in the park position, but it will coast through the park area and start running again. Put the wiper blades on it against the windshield and I bet it works.

I am just as sorry as I could be....but..@MIDNIGHT RIDER has a valid point...

On the flip side...I ran your (the OP) paragraph by a German friend of mine...and they (in their native language) make sentences much like that...but much more understandable...(in their native parlance)

So...Mr. Vinceslammer...(is that like Thor's Hammer...?) it is apparent that you make sentences that would make a German proud...

Now...back to your trouble with your truck....

W...T...F...is wrong with it again...?

If you truly need help and are asking for us to try...

Could you group your thoughts a little more understandably for us poor, downtrodden, just-trying-to-get-by-without-breaking-the-piggy bank-and mortgaging-the-kids-for-fuel-money mechanics...?

Thanks in advance...

I seriously doubt that 'they' are actually TEACHING punctuation...

what 'they' are actually 'instructing' the kids to do...(in my opinion...)

is...to just expect someone else to do the heavy lifting of life FOR them...

aren't we 'progressing' into some form of 'workers paradise'....??

I had gotten a letter in the mail from a business acquaintance a few weeks ago...hand written...and the person had PERFECT pennmanship...

I was floored...!!!

Then I remembered that the person was from approximately the same generation as I was...

I was thinking the same thing. I had a very hard time figuring out what was going on. I don't have the best spelling and punctuation, but that was a tough read. hopefully he replies and can clear up what the issue is.
