I put a 130 amp alternator on Sunday and plugged this wire in to another wire that was hot when running... it drained the hell out of my optimas, down to like 6 amps and took forever to recharge but everything is back in shape again. Except with this wire not plugged into the 12 volt system my battery light comes on, anyone know how to make it go away and still be functional?

It was plugged into that dark red T-splice just in the background.

If you look at the connectors in the picture in this link, you can see how to hook it up.
http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/?p=75

The terminal to the outside of the case (green/red in the picture) goes to the green/red wire that you will take off your original regulator "I" terminal.

The terminal in the middle(white/black in the picture) jumps to the other connection on the 130 amp alternator.

The terminal furthest from the outside of the case (yellow/white in the picture) jumps to the large output terminal of the 130 amp alternator.

You don't need the one on the fender anymore! http://mk4build.com/manual/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=3ginstall.jpg I wired mine the same except the voltage sensing wire is connected to the in cab fuse box to provide a more stable 14.2 volts to all the acc.

Have you ever measured the voltage at the battery with the engine running? Putting the sensing wire so remotely away from the battery may overcharge it. The factory was notorious for installing wiring that was too small for the load.

My set up is the same as the diagram you posted except I don't know anything about the neutral safety switch and where is the sensing wire in that diagram? I'm lost as to what you mean with the sensing wire going to the fuse box, I need to know where it is coming from...

The neutral safety switch has nothing to do with the alternator, it's just included in the diagram for reference.

Don't worry about the fuse box wiring thing, just run the yellow/white right over to the large output wire.

His diagram link is no different than the wiring in the link I posted.

I had it plugged into the wire that jumped from the A post to the output post before and it drained the batteries.
