I've been curious lately as to which rpms are most desirable when in a situation such as a drag race, you know you've done it:sly:sly.

Personally I used to rev to the first yellow mark, now that I have whats in my sig I have been thinking more like not letting it go over 2500, running a ZF-5 and 3.55's FWIW.

I wouldn't go more than 300rpms or closer to redline. The governor
Spring starts to shut fuel flow down as you start to approach the governor.mine is governed at 3300, so 3000rpms is where I shift.

I let my motor "tell" me when to shift. I see very little reason to "run it out" any higher than it needs. On the average, 1st to 2nd at 2200-2400rpms. 2nd to 3rd about 2300-2500rpms with 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th at 2600. I do try to catch the rpm drop before it gets below 1800 to 1900 rpm. But that's just me and my truck. 3.55/4.10/4.63 & 5.13 ratios are inclusive in these recommendations.

Thats kinda what I was thinking, keep the rpms above 1800 just haven't driven it much the way it is and lately my trans has been on its last leg so I've been taking shifts easy like.
