Agree, I don't think that's out of the norm for a healthy motor. I think at 70 I'm turning 2600-2700 RPM with 4:10 gears and stock size tires. That being said, I ran it without the air filter on it when I was checking for leaks and was noticing a good amount of blow by coming up the CCV into...
I actually lubed the o ring with some light weight grease before installing. I haven’t checked the mating surface with a straight edge yet. I’d really like to not Cobb something together with RTV to make it work if I can avoid it.
Thank you. The interesting aspect to this is the truck was largely dry until I drove around Chicago through heavy construction areas with traffic and felt like I was taking it off jumps. I don’t know how that would cause this. The take off filter didn’t show any signs of damage. So I’d think the...
Temp got up to just shy of 180 and pressure settled. This is where I shut it down.
This is the amount of oil it leaked from running and getting up to temp at idle. The coolant is spillage from me swapping water temp sensors so no concern there.
Sorry it took a bit but finally got the gauges wrapped up this evening. Looks like idle oil pressure is at between 35-40 psi. That’s with an auto meter electric sender unit mounted in the original oil pressure switch location.
So I was able to get some time and put a wrench on the valve cover bolts. None were loose but I put another 1/8 to 1/4 turn on the bottoms of the valve cover that was leaking. I put another 1/4 turn on the oil filter after cleaning it up and it's still leaking. The oil cooler and bolts remain...
IDI,
Thank you for the feedback. The leak is actually coming from the oil filter. The housing is dry above the filter along with the bolts fixing it to the block. To your point about the gaskets, both the original and replacements both had the flat gasket surface towards the housing for a...
Goat,
Thank you for the feedback. I actually tried to fit a 1995 and I don’t think I have the available angle to get it started without it interfering with the oil pan. I screwed with it for about 15 minutes and it wouldn’t thread on. I plan to check the valve cover gaskets tomorrow along with...
Thank you both. I’ll remove the air cleaner assy and see what I can see down the back side of the motor. It’s definitely oil pressure related because I can start the truck up in the garage, let it run for a few minutes, blip the throttle a few times and I get drips down the oil filter housing...
Hello All,
New to the forum and IDI ownership as of late June. Drove my 91 F250 XLT Lariat cross country from Klamath Falls Oregon to Upstate NY. It was a great trip until we drove around Chicago and I felt like I was an extra on The Dukes of Hazzard. The morning after, I woke up to a...
