"Tank" my 91 Crew Cab Dually

Same here, bolts were too short. DON'T FORGET THE BLUE THREADLOCKER! I've had *two* straps come lose on me over the years, each time because I'd forgotten the threadlocker. Doh.

Nice so the wrenching is just something you pickup up from family or something?

"Tank" my 91 Crew Cab Dually

While I like your thinking, I didn't have a drill that stout. All my tools are Ryobi or impact drivers and I'm not subjecting those little green guys to a floor jack, lol! That's where a mag drill comes in! (But I don't have that either)

    THSIM9’s 1991 F250 Project

My setup is in my signature and I had a fuel inlet pressure gauge for the IP for a while to test it(Facet and later the OEM lift pump) Under WOT or close to it the Facet would drop to 0-1psi. The IP is rated for 5-6psi and below that does change the fuel timing. At 0 it's pretty jacked up...

"Tank" my 91 Crew Cab Dually

Same thoughts here... I have the same brand of hitch though mine fits to the frame a bit differently. I had to replace the tank a while back and pissed myself off having to drop the hitch also. Thankfully it's just 6 bolts but it's just the weight and angle and everything is covered in diesel...

    Engine Running Cold

Good call on the actual boiling temp. That said, 195* is about where mine sits at cruising speeds on the freeway so it should definitely be open at least somewhat by then. Just cause I'm curious, what's your altitude?

    Yet another heads thread

It's not starving for fuel at idle and no-load throttle bump with your mechanical lift pump. Unless it's broken. Mine keeps up with my maxed stock pump to 14psi under load. And still isn't dropping off in pressure, so there's more left over. Probably not much more, but either way that's only...

Trailered home a 1989 F350 dump truck that looks great on the outside, but the 7.3 IDI is something else

Wow I'm amazed that they delivered those on a normal UPS truck. And same thing that you could just walk in and return the old ones, I wouldn't have guessed that at all. Must be right at the upper limit. To send an average delivery driver out to wrestle 100lb cast iron is a little much... They...

    Yet another heads thread

Funny, Justin and Wes are usually in agreement on longevity and performance mods for these engines, but in the case of the coolant mod are miles apart. I wonder why, and where the truth lies. And I doubt that any old wives came up with the coolant mod idea! LOL

    Oil change for ZF-5 Transmission

+1 Redline MTL, been using it for many years. It's given my tired ZF-5 a lot of use for many more years than I thought it would have in her. It's definitely time for a rebuild, but this stuff is great!

Another good reason to stay out of Calif.

I've often wondered when/if this would become a thing. After all, diesel locomotives have been running that way since the 50's and even the 30's according to Google. So there's a ton of science behind it and you'd have nearly unlimited torque at low speeds, with way more efficiency from the...

Project Thread: 1986 F250 “Farm Truck #1” Build Thread

Yep just get a pyro and pay attention. Shouldn't take long to get used to it. The timing may be off a bit since it'll have more fuel at the same pedal travel but you might be able to dial that in by advancing or retarding the IP. I haven't heard of people doing it so I'm not sure, but in your...

Trailered home a 1989 F350 dump truck that looks great on the outside, but the 7.3 IDI is something else

I was going to suggest replacing that pop-tester gauge anyway since it's about 4x the scale we need. If you can find one for 2500psi that's ideal, 3k may be more accessible. That way you can get the resolution to get each injector within 50psi, which is ideal. So I was late to the party on that...

Another good reason to stay out of Calif.

It's amazing to me how many electric car related patents came out in the late 1800's and early 1900's and how much technology the minds of these inventors created on paper, and just couldn't implement it due to lack of (electrical)energy storage. I don't have a link or anything but there are...

Solid vs Elastomer Harmonic Balancer- Which is Better?

I don't know anything about the balancer differences, but I do know that 300hp is way more than 30% increase in power from stock. I don't recall the stock HP but I feel like it's around 175hp at the flywheel. If you're measuring the 300hp at the flywheel that's 71.4% more ponies! Yeah buddy...

    Forward facing car seat

I guess the center belt in the back of your crew cab has a retractor? (maybe I'm reading it wrong) My extended cab does not, so it's no big deal to snug anything down in the center. I have 4 kiddos now so lots of car seats...anything with a belt retractor is OUT. That cannot work. But anything...

Trailered home a 1989 F350 dump truck that looks great on the outside, but the 7.3 IDI is something else

Besides #5 that sure is a pretty engine! I'm with @IDIBRONCO and think if I was you, I'd do the hone and see what happens. On the penny-pinching side, you can get just #5 bored. As you said it won't introduce more significant compression than any other engine that has natural variability. Shoot...

The big tires that I run would help you out a TON with roads like that, and give a tiny lift. 285/75R-16's, or roughly 33". MT's or open tread AT's. I like the AT's better for the mostly road driving I do. The trick is to only air them up as much as needed to keep the treadwear even. It's...

    Keiser's 7.3 + turbo noob build

I'd actually forgotten how frustrated I was putting my turbo on for the first time till I read that, and now just remembered how mad I was when I finally had it all together except the intake hat, not knowing you couldn't just slip it in there after the turbo was in place! I was in a special...

how much time before 7.3 is warm? outside temp now 10*C

My 89 has both the temp sender and light switch, his is an 89. @Bart F-350 my first guess is that your sender and switch are installed into the opposite ports. That would make the wire you grounded the correct wire. Or maybe the wires are crossed, being connected to the wrong thing. Just a...
