I would like to do this someday. How did you tackle it? Did you get a donor engine or just buy all the components new?

That’s a good idea. I’ve already removed the cruise control for the same reason. I snuck the coolant overflow in behind my grille so it’s out of the way. I just need a place for the catch can, coolant filter, vacuum canister, and I need room for the intake still. I’m going to make a custom...

I’m not sure yet. Probably going to make a bracket and mount it on the side of the alternator or something. It doesn’t fit easily anywhere so I’m going to have to get creative.

Busy weekend. Got the core support, front fenders, battery trays, radiator, intercooler, AC system, headlights, grill, new hood latch and cable, and a bunch of other miscellaneous little things buttoned up. Got all the front end wiring removed, getting ready to start the rewiring with a...

    EGT questions

This is what I have done with my previous setup. (Banks sidewinder, no intercooler, stock ip and injectors) if I drop to 4th or even 3rd and stay at the higher RPMs I see lower EGT’s while pulling grades for sure.

Indeed, 3 generations prior to me were all mechanics/machinists for all or part of their careers. It’s definitely in the blood!

I was an 11B (Infantry) active duty from 2014-2017 and then 1 year in the Arizona Army National Guard from 2017-2018. I got an B.S in “University Studies” from Northern Arizona University it’s essentially a build your own major by completing two minors kind of deal for people like me who can’t...

That’s what I’m thinking as well, I’m actually wondering how much of my lack of power previously, particularly while pulling grades was just the facet pump not keeping up. Especially since it was mounted under the hood, and pulling though the stock FSV.

Did some cleanup and painting on the inside of the front fenders, core support, and battery trays. I also plumbed and mounted my old facet pump to work as a transfer pump from the front tank to the new 38 gallon rear tank. Forgot to take good photos today so you will have to take my word for it...

38 gallon tank installed and plumbed through to the engine bay. Belt drive brackets installed, alternator, vacuum pump, and power steering installed. Still need to install the AC compressor. Fuel filters sit just barely higher than the skid plate for the transfer case. Should be a pretty safe...

Return lines, injector lines, turbo, and downpipe all installed today. Don’t look too closely at any of my painting. I’m more of a wrench guy than a paint guy.

Pressure washed the frame and everything up front, added some new stick on insulation to the firewall, sprayed everything down with a little black VHT and clear coat, and got the engine back in the frame. Hopefully tomorrow will be return lines, injectors lines, turbo, and the belt drive...

Lots of time spent cleaning old dirty parts and getting things painted and ready to go back together. Took the opportunity with the engine out to replace the motor mounts, front leaf springs, and shocks. Now that’s it’s warming up it’s about time to roll the truck outside and pressure...

    THSIM9’s 1991 F250 Project

I decided while I was in the heads I would have them install new valves, keepers, bronze valve guides, the comp 910 springs and get everything set back to spec. While they worked on this I continued to tear down the engine and found another damaged piston. I measured the bores once the...

    THSIM9’s 1991 F250 Project

At this point I ordered all the fun goodies from CDD and began getting the engine ready for removal. I found a local rental place that had a cherry picker for 50 bucks per weekend, and got the boat anchor removed. I purchased the Daytona gear driven engine stand from HF to hold the hunk of...
